Experience

I have supported a number of students with preparing for their GCSE and A-level English and History exams, and am familiar with the specifications of all of the major UK exam boards. Although my approach to teaching varies according to the needs of the student, I generally encourage an approach to literary study that combines close textual reading with broader thematic analysis. My lessons emphasise active participation, and I set longer essays/written responses as homework, marking these on a weekly basis.

I am also an experienced Oxbridge admissions tutor. I have helped several students achieve offers for English, History, and ASNAC from both Oxford and Cambridge, as well as UCL, Durham, Edinburgh, and KCL. I offer interview preparation sessions and mock interviews, and can also help students with preparing for admissions tests, such as the ELAT or HAT. I also offer assistance with writing UCAS personal statements, including sessions that aim to help with the initial drafting process.

About

Away from my academic research and tutoring, I love running, swimming, and playing rugby. I am also an avid cook and baker, and my kitchen is my happy place!
