Experience

I am offering one-to-one bespoke tutoring sessions in GCSE/A-Level maths and physics. From personal experience, a great teacher in physics and maths can be transformative. Without the charisma and passion exemplified by my A-Level teachers, my journey in physics would have stopped there. I am now researching theoretical physics in London and have a Masters in physics with first class honours, and I am hoping to pass on this enthusiasm for the subject to a new generation of learners. I have lead several students through the GCSE/A-Level courses and together we've created a huge improvement in their engagement, enjoyment and academic performance.

I believe that the national curriculum of maths and physics is damaging to student engagement, inclusivity and overall enjoyment. Learning new material should be exciting, and I hope to reflect this in my teaching approach - banishing the stereotypes and expectations around maths/physics. Physicists and mathematicians are responsible for the most amazing and interesting developments in human understanding, and I think furthering this should begin with a reform in the education of such at school level.

Tutoring is exceptionally rewarding for me and I enjoy spreading my passion for mathematics and physics with students. I also believe it is crucial for a tutor in my position to challenge the harmful stereotypes that may exist around young women entering STEM, as well as state-educated students (such as myself) pursuing an Oxbridge degree. This is a belief that I have reflected in my tutoring services thus far.

About

Outside of my job as a physics researcher, I love cooking and exploring different cultures through cuisine. I also play drums and electric guitar with my friends in a rock band and have a passion for exercise and weightlifting.
